The Glen at Hiland Meadows Retirement Community
Queensbury, New York
The Glen at Hiland Meadows is located at the foothills of
the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. Complementing this natural
setting, the community employs a New England style theme, reflected in steep
peaked roofs and clapboard siding façade. The massing of the building is
reduced by the varied rooflines and wall fenestrations designed in a residential
style.
The community consists of 62 independent living units, 18
cottages, 44 assistive living units, central commons area and two guest suites.
The main entrance is approached under the Porte Cochere leading into the Commons. The
lobby is the focal point of the Community and leads to the dining room, grille
room, activity areas and resident apartments.
The cottages convey the sense of living in a neighborhood. The
interior of the cottage offers cathedral ceilings creating an open and airy
space. The high windows allow natural light to enter, illuminating the living
areas.
The Terrace, an assistive living residence on the campus,
is attached to the independent complex and features a front porch, which
serves as a gathering place for residents and family members. The dining room
is elegant and intimate, featuring a Palladian style window that offers a
spectacular view of the surrounding Adirondack mountains. The adjoining
courtyard is designed with walking paths and sitting areas for enjoyment of the
residents.
